Description
A neat vintage plastic pin in the form of a 3D butterfly with reverse painted wings. The butterfly is an orange red base with the reverse painting showing through the wings and the body. The eyes and abdomen are also painted on the outside. I have read that these pins were made in the 1950’s out of Perspex. This one is different in that its wings are more upright and it appears to have been molded. I’m not sure exactly what plastic was used in its creation. The pin has an embedded hinge and C clasp.
Condition: In good condition. The right side of the wings has damage along the edge (possibly melted with some chipping and separation of layers). The gold paint was chipping and damaged and has been repainted. There is some darkening of the metal of the pin findings. We have priced it accordingly.
